Nintendo has unveiled a fresh Creator’s Voice video highlighting Koshi Nakanishi, the director behind Resident Evil Requiem. Set to release on February 27, 2026, this upcoming title is generating excitement, and the video offers an insightful overview of the game’s storyline as well as the broader Resident Evil franchise.
Additionally, Nakanishi discusses the smooth development process of Resident Evil Requiem for the Switch 2, emphasizing features such as GameChat designed to support players who may feel uneasy facing the game alone.
Here’s what he had to say:
“Nintendo Switch 2 has improved graphical specs, so we wondered if Requiem could run on it – and it did, with ease. When we, the development team, first saw it in our hands, we were sceptical too, so we had to do a triple take. We thought to ourselves ‘Oh, this is really running on Nintendo Switch 2?. It all worked so smoothly that we just decided to go ahead with the game as-is and make it for the console. With specs like these in handheld mode, it looks great.
“With Nintendo Switch 2, you also have GameChat. That’s perfect for horror games. Even players who think they can’t play alone can have fun together just by inviting friends to watch. So I feel like GameChat was made just for Resident Evil.”
Nakanishi-san reveals that Zelda II: The Adventure of Link ranks among his favorite titles within the Zelda franchise. While leading the development of Resident Evil Revelations on the 3DS, he crafted the Scarmiglione foes to behave similarly to the armored soldiers from Zelda II, periodically lifting and lowering their shields as a defensive tactic. This approach to enemy design showcases the creative influences behind Resident Evil Requiem and its gameplay mechanics.
Warning: spoilers for Resident Evil Requiem are circulating online, so stay vigilant as the release date approaches. Capcom has urged fans to avoid spreading any leaks, and Hideki Kamiya, the original creator of Resident Evil 2, has shared his thoughts on the issue as well.
